  • 93 punti Antonio Galloni Vinous Media“The 2012 Syrah Il Bosco is gorgeous. A blast of dark cherry and plum hits the palate first. Scents of tobacco, licorice, smoke and leather add shades of aromatic nuance with air. But above all else, the 2012 is a wine of pure, voluptuous fruit. Today, the 2012 is naturally quite primary. Readers who enjoy wines with a bit more aromatic nuance will want to cellar the 2012 for at least a few years. This is an impressive showing.”

“Very pretty aromas of licorice, tar and blueberries plus hints of flowers. Full-bodied, very balanced and silky with ultra-fine tannins and a long and beautiful finish. The texture is so enticing here. Such balance to the wine. Drink or hold.”

“This is a beautifully layered syrah with licorice, blackberry and ddried meat aromas and flavors. Full body, round tannins and a fresh finish. Drink or hold.”

“D’Alessandro’s 2010 Syrah il Bosco presents compelling varietal nuances with distinctly Tuscan accents, all in an exotic, mid-weight style full of allure. Lavender, violets, mint and sweet spices meld into a core of expressive dark red stone fruits as this beguiling beauty opens up over time. Iron and rose petal are but a few of the nuances that develop in a striking Syrah bursting at the seams with true character. There is much to admire here. The 2010 is a great Bosco.”
  • 91 punti Wine Spectator “Very pretty, with cherry, blackberry and raspberry fruit coating the refined tannins. Fluid and well-defined through the lingering finish of fruit and spice. Best after 2016. 1,250 cases made.”

“Complex aromas of dried meat, pancetta and dark fruits follow through to a full body, with fine tannins and lots of subtle fruit. Nutty and minerally at the finish. I like the style and different character in this young wine. Better in 2014.”
  • 93+ Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate “The 2009 Cortona Syrah Il Bosco offers all the plush softness you want from the grape (Syrah) and the place (Tuscany). This is a true beauty with lingering notes of cured meat, dark berry and balsam herb that grow in intensity and momentum as the wine warms in the glass. The mouthfeel is richly textured and dense with an excellent level of extraction and long persistency to match. Il Bosco should hold well for the next decade.”
  • 93 punti Antonio Galloni’s Vinous Media “A deep, plush wine, the 2009 Syrah Il Bosco needs time to develop the breadth of its aromas and flavors, but it is nevertheless striking today. Plums, pipe tobacco, cedar and black olives flesh out in this gorgeous, broad-shouldered Syrah. An explosive yet nuanced finish rounds things out in style. I can’t wait to check in on the 2009 in another few years.”
  • 91 punti Wine Spectator “A hefty dose of oak adds a resinous sheen and a layer of tannins to this red, with cherry and currant notes lingering in the background. Though this is firm, there’s sweetness too, so be patient. Best from 2015 through 2028. 1,800 cases made.”

“Dried berries, spices and Cameroon black pepper on the nose. Full body, with round and velvety tannins and intense raw meat and dark fruits on the palate, that turn to black pepper. Hints of new wood too. A big and rich Syrah. This needs at least three to four years of bottle age still.”
  • 92-93 punti Antonio Galloni’s Vinous Media “The 2008 Cortona Syrah Il Bosco comes across as quite focused and primary in this vintage, with layers of black fruit lurking beneath a wall of imposing tannin. The 2008 is a cool, inward Il Bosco that needs a few years in bottle before it begins to show the full breadth of its potential. For now, the wine’s sheer depth and textural richness makes me think the future is bright.”

  • 95 punti Wine Spectator “There’s lovely structure to this subtle, rich Syrah that gives so much in texture and beauty. Full, yet polished and refined. Chewy and powerful on the finish. Says Côte-Rôtie in Italian. Best after 2012”
  • 94 punti Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate “The 2007 Syrah Il Bosco is marvelously focused and centered in its dark red fruit. With time in the glass, layers of tobacco, earthiness and minerals emerge, adding complexity nuance and pedigree. The long, perfumed finish is exceptionally elegant within the context of a fairly powerful style. New oak adds considerable volume, richness and also an element of sweetness that needs time to integrate. Still, it is a sublime, beautiful wine of exquisite finesse. This is a fabulous effort from D’Alessandro.”

  • 95 punti Wine Spectator “Intense licorice, blackberry, mineral, sandalwood and flowers on the nose. Full-bodied, with silky, superpolished tannins that turn to a butterscotch, toffee, berry and chocolate aftertaste, which has just a hint of meat and spice. Tannic and powerful, yet balanced. Best after 2012. 1,335 cases made.”
  • 92 punti Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate “The estate’s 2006 Cortona Syrah Il Bosco is a beautiful, deep wine endowed with notable clarity and precision. Blueberry jam, spices, earthiness and subtle toasted oak emerge gently from this articulate, elegant wine. Today, the 2006 Il Bosco is still quite vibrant, but in time it should acquire greater varietal complexity. It is a terrific effort from D’Alessandro.”
